ABOUT OUR OWNER
Jim Wiedman, CML is the owner/locksmith of Mid-State Lock and Key. Jim is a third generation locksmith, and is very knowledgeable in his trade. Jim’s family members have always been leaders in the locksmith industry and he is certainly no exception. Jim’s grandfather was the founding father of the Greater Philadelphia Locksmiths Association (GPLA), which is one of the largest locksmith associations in the country today.
Jim moved to Tennessee in 1988 where he worked in law enforcement for twelve years, before starting his own business within his family’s trade of locksmithing. Once he made the commitment to follow in his family’s footsteps, he never looked back. Jim was bound and determined to be one of the best in the industry, and live up to this prestigious family reputation. Looking at his accomplishments over the last ten years, one would think that his grandfather is looking down on him and beaming with pride.
In 2002 Jim began participating in the Associated Locksmiths Of America’s (ALOA’s) proficiency rating program (PRP). In 2003 he achieved the certification of Certified Registered Locksmith (CRL). In 2004 he achieved the certification of Certified Professional Locksmith (CPL), and in 2006 after a large amount of studying, training and perseverance, Jim achieved the highest level of nationally recognized certification, “Certified Master Locksmith” (CML).
Jim is past president of the statewide locksmith association, Tennessee Organization Of Locksmiths (TOOL), past president of the Middle Tennessee Locksmith Association (MTLA) and has held numerous other board positions of both associations. He was instrumental in the passage of the Tennessee locksmith licensing law that went into effect in July, 2008. He was honored for this achievement by receiving the “Person of the Year” award from the national locksmith association’s legislative action network (ALOA). In 2004, Jim was awarded the prestigious “Lee Rognon Award” for fostering cooperation between locksmith associations.
Since the Tennessee locksmith licensing law went into effect in July, 2008, Jim recognized the need for quality education for locksmiths in the state of Tennessee. In 2009, he was approved as an instructor by the state of Tennessee and started the Mid-State Locksmith Training Program. The purpose of this training program is to provide quality, professional education and training to locksmiths and those aspiring locksmiths. |
